Via my pal Rudi: Roger Waters and David Gilmour reunited on stage last week for an epic version of The Wall‘s “Comfortably Numb”:
They sound great together, and the crowd’s reaction when the y see Gilmour atop the wall on stage is amazing. Here’s hoping that this show finds its way to DVD sometime soon, ’cause it looks/sounds fabulous.
I’m loving the live retro groove of Raphael Saadiq’s new album Stone Rollin’, especially the subtle electric guitar blues of “Day Dreams” and the stomping “Heart Attack,” which is streaming here:
As much as I dig it, tho, the album is missing some oomph from the rhythm section. A quick perusal of the liner notes & I think I’ve discovered why: Saadiq went all Lenny Kravitz up in this joint, playing nearly every instrument himself. Prince can get away with that, but, sadly, Saadiq can’t. If he’d imported, say, ?uestlove on drums and Pino Palladino on bass, I can only imagine how much more snap it would have.
